After its successful sold-out run in last March, Sean O Casey’s ‘Juno and the Paycock’ returns for another three nights to the Ramor Theatre on Thursday 13th, Friday 14th and Saturday 15th September. Thursday night’s show will be in aid of local charities Virginia Cancer Care and local charities.
Set in the Dublin tenements in 1922 Juno and the Paycock is one of
Sean O’ Casey’s best loved plays.
His understanding of the impoverished life that the inhabitants had to endure in these dwellings is evident throughout this play as he gives voice to their every day cares and struggles. The added tension of Ireland’s Civil War is never far away as tragedy strikes hard in household after household. Even in a world of struggle and loss, O Casey injects moments of warmth and humour that have made this play a favourite for theatre-goers for well-nigh a hundred years.
