WEEKEND GAA ROUNDUP

Lurgan Ladies sealed their long sought-after 4 in-a-row following an epic weekend’s action in Ballymachugh against Crosserlough. Star-turn performances from Claragh O’Reilly and Clara Lynch secured Lurgan’s title as the most outstanding Senior Football team in the history of Cavan GAA – male or female.

Lurgan finished the first half on a scoreline of 3-7, to Crosserlough’s 0-7. Points from O’Reilly, Lynch, Niamh Daly and Sarah Nulty further left Lurgan with an end score of 3-14. Herculean second half efforts from Lauren McVeety, Neasa Byrd and Shauna Lynch ensured the Kilnaleck women remained well in contention, until the final whistle, however they were not sufficient to halt the unstoppable Virginia girls.

Final Score: Lurgan Ladies 3:14 Crosserlough 1:10

Ramor United had no such luck against Crosserlough in the men’s SFC Quarter Final. Huge performances from Brían O’Connell and Mark Magee weren’t enough to secure a semi-final spot for the Virginia men.

Final Score: Ramor United 2-14 Crosserlough 2-17
